New Orleans, New Jersey, What's the difference?

This town is eerily like Cape May. The houses are a lot closer than at home. The water kind of tastes funny. They may not have an ocean, but there are several bodies of water. They have funnel cake year round, disguised as beignets. It smells like the beach too. It's breezy here, and gets really hot in the summer. Okay so maybe it doesn't get that hot in Cape May but that's not the point. They don't have real malls here, just baby shopping centers, and streets of shopping. Plus people don't wear enough clothes for the temperature outside. So in case you were down south, and really wanted to go to Cape May, Metairie LA is the place to go.

P.S. In case you were wondering, Dean came in second in the NH primaries. Not bad, but not the best.

Who needs school? Not me.

So, if you're a loyal blog reader, you know that my periods are 80 minutes long. Today I've had two free periods. If you're in Philly you may not be so jealous, since you had a snow day, but it was still pretty awesome in my book. This is a once in a lifetime experience, and while I was living it up one of the teachers started hassling me. Stupid teacher, I don't do that whole learning thing. He was the art teacher too; What does he know? So instead of doing homework, or school related things, I'm keeping you updated.

This weekend was fun. I got to meet people, and I know a lot of people's names. On Friday night, I went to a giant movie theater. I mean it had stadium seating, and it was so big that there really was a nosebleed section. That was in one of the "smaller theaters." Big Fish was quite a good movie, it was funny, but it was good. I recommend it. On Saturday, I went to the French quarter. It sounds fancier than it really is, but it did remind me of France. There were tons of street performers, and unlike in Boston they weren't paid to be there. Some of them were really good too. And I had funnel cake, I mean beignets. Once again fancy name for something just normal. Later that night we went to Fridays. Sarah and I stayed up late looking at pictures and talking, but then I was tired and allergic to her cats. Sunday I was practicing being classy not trashy. I went to tea with Miffy and Biffy (aka Sarah and Mrs. Manthey) t was really good, even if they didn't have chocolate covered strawberries. Then I went to a youth mass, which was...different. I think I had technical difficulties because I'm not really religious. Then I went to a coffee shop. I know I'm a rebel rebel, going out on school nights and not ever having class. Plus my face tends to be a mess after I eat messy food.

Tomorrow's the NH primaries. Rock the Vote New Hampshire Residents.

Y'all are gonna love it here.

So my first day at school in New Orleans was...different. First of all its so warm here. They all think it's super cold but I got here and I was burning up in my coat. I had a poh boy with fried catfish and it was actually pretty tasty. It's a good thing I like fish. The school is a lot bigger here. The block scheduling is a bit off a killer. It's like having double period every subject, but I only have each subject every other day which is not so bad. I should have taken advantage of how close I lived to school at home. Here they leave at 7:10 in order to make it school at 8. Luckily I'm an hour off but eventually the early morning will kill me. Everyone is nice, even if I can't remember any of their names. They're skirts are super long, but the teachers don't care if they wear pants during the day. Their day is very chill with breaks between two of the classes. I'm still working on getting my laptop, so don't rush the updating. All the classes are really different. Turns out I'm going to have to teach myself European history with the help of a teacher, and they took Church history last semester so we'll see what happens with religion. English class is fun, and I already knew about the thing they were learning about. I have to read Wurthering Heights though. Not cool. I'm still working on getting comments, so be patient. I'm going to stop being antisocial, but email me for my real address or just email me. When I get my laptop I'll get comments. Peace and Love.

Decked in my green...

My last night out, and the eagles didn't win. I was all decked in my green, set for the game. I don't even like to think about it. So disappointing, for the third year the Eagles just didn't pull through, but at least we made it this far. Tonight, I played the most hardcore game of bs ever. Maybe not ever, but I used to think we were hardcore at camp, no. Missy is the ultimate fooseball player. Maybe its just because I am horrible at fooseball, but that's besides the point. A tip for the wise, don't break Moira's figurines, especially not dinosaurs because you're left with glue all over your hands.

I was acting kind of ditzy tonight. It was no good. Not only did I leave Missy at her house because I thought she said "See you tomorrow", but I also thought cricket was polo, and fell down Moira's stairs. Luckily, few saw the fall. It's okay though, after that I was okay.

Last night, I was helping Aileen pack up before she left. I kind of feel like we're going to college. She was practically packing up her life. It will seem even weirder on Tuesday when I have to pack up.

I've become obsessed with one of Mae's unreleased songs, Tisbury lane. You can check it out at: http://www.absolutepunk.net/download.php?clip=Mae-Tisbury_Lane.mp3 You need QuickTime to listen to it, but it's worth it. This really should be my I heart Mae website. All in good time.

Mae: the band everyone should be listening to

Mae, one of my favorite bands, is coming two times while I'm away. I swear every awesome band was like hey lets tour form mid-January till Mid-March and go to Philadelphia. If anyone goes to either of mae's concerts get me a t-shirt because I have an obsession with them. Not only that, but they're touring with further seems Forever when they come the second time around. And Sugarcult is also coming to town. I'm jealous of anyone whose going to these concerts.

Everybody Party like it's 1999

Today, I stalked the Rothrocks. I called them at 8 this morning asking about buses. I went to Costco, and shoveled with them. Then 4 hours later I came back to their house for a party. The party was definitely fun. Highlights: Eye of the tiger dance party, all of the tasty food, Jordan putting her face in her cake, Laura's Mitz video, and so many pictures. Exams made it seem like I was leaving forever, but now that they're over everything's going so fast. In the next 6 days I need to fit in family time, friends time, a day of school, packing and my philly phood tour. 8 weeks seems like such a long time. Well it will really only be 7 weeks of school, considering I get a week of for Mardi Gras, suckers! Maybe I'll grow an inch while I'm away and be taller than Moira. Maybe...

Jane looking crazy, but check out the sweats!

I figured out how to do links, with a little help, and you all should be muy impressed. Last crew practice tomorrow, and it's yoga, I'm excited. I really just wanted to post that link, but i thought I would entertain you for a little longer. Opps too long.

The Sweats have Arrived!

I know you were all getting worried, but the sweats came in the mail. That's right tomorrow I will be sporting my studly "Geeks United" sweats (Check the title of the blog.) Helen made a pretty funny little movie about me being a bully today. Being a bully is almost as much fun as ruckussing. Today Megan and I were throwing around Emily's hat, and I was like, I heart being a bully. The other thing I realized today was that, I thought Aileen and I were totally awesome at Battleship (my favorite game), but then Emily beat me. Not Cool. Party tomorrow, everyone should come!

The Dialogue Project

So this is my competition. Don't be fooled by her last nice post. So I have to make a second post so I don't lose. So I'm kind of annoyed with Gilmore Girls, they haven't had a new episode in forever. I want to make Eagles shirts. Other than my obsession with green, if we make it to the superbowl I need to be representing in New Orleans, but I'm cheap so making shirts is cooler. So I'm trying to think of fun things to do in Philadelphia before I leave, but then I realized all I do is eat there. I was like, "Okay I want to go to Gino's or Crispy Pizza, and then Capgiro, get something in China town. Oh I definitely need to get a pretzel, and maybe go to Rita's." Then I realized I would have thrown up by the time I got to Chinatown. Decisions, Decisions...
So today Helen and I got in a bit of a rumble because her blog is the pits. Not only does her compadre never update, but this one man show is a little too slow for my taste. She offered to let me co-write on her blog (watch out Mary), but I laughed in her face and started my own blog. Here goes nothing:

I don't think all this studying for exams is really good for me. I find myself running into more than the usual amount of walls lately. Also using my brain makes me hungry all the time. Well, that's not really something new for me, but I bought a box of berry berry kix and I'm running out quickly. Even if I'm eating a lot especially according to Missy, my pants still managed to fall down all today. So yeah, they were a large, and I'm a small but they did have a drawstring.

I'm pretty annoyed with the mail system too. How am I supposed to represent my family's secret club if it's not on the back of a sweatshirt. I was about to start something with the mailman today, but he drove away too quickly to get a piece of my mind. Then my mom was shouting about something, right after the mail came. All I heard was, "Jane, mamuh" You know in that Charlie Brown teachers voice. She said it 3 times so I thought it had to be something exciting like oh I don't know, our Christmas Sweats! No all it was were pictures. Not even good pictures, this prom picture where I look like a turd, and some half-family pictures where I look like a turd again. Oh well.

I'm such a slacker. Evidence a: I'm writing this instead of studying, but that's not the point. I'm leaving for New Orleans in 8 days (I know you can all start crying now.) and me being a bum I still haven't talked to the girl I'm staying with. I will be there for 2 months so it's not like we won't have plenty of time to chat. And I thought about calling her today, but I couldn't find her number, at least I made an effort though.
